The 7^th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology

The International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT), organized by Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China), is held annually since 2004. This annual conference has been held successfully for six times and becomes an important platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems, exchange experience, and find innovative solutions. Approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, the 7th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology will be held on Sep.05-07 in Beijing, China.

The 7th ICWMT will be co-hosted by Tsinghua University, National Center of Solid Waste Management and Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific, and be organized by the Society of Solid Waste of Chinese Society for Environmental Science and BCRC China. The main topics of the conference includes the management and technology of municipal solid waste, e-waste management policy, hazardous waste, municipal sludge management and disposal, circular economy, urban mining, POPs, rural solid waste and other related issues.

The support from the government

The 7th ICWMT will be supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China. The conference organizing committee will invite high level officials from Ministry of Environmental Protection to attend the conference, and deliver a keynote speech on the present status of waste management and future development.

In 2011, the 6th ICWMT had invited a number of outstanding scholars to make keynote speech in the field of solid waste from all over the world, such as the officials from the Department of Pollution Prevention and Control, and UNEP resident representatives in China. ICWMT has drawn much attention both from the public and the authority.

The lineup of top experts, cutting-edge platform for academic communication

The steering committee of ICWMT gathers 48 outstanding experts and scholars from all over the world in the area of solid waste management and disposal, Prof. Hao Jiming, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering undertakes the chair of steering committee, and Prof. Jinhui Li from Tsinghua University, executive secretary of BCRC China undertakes the Chair of Conference. ICWMT 7 will invite a great many of experts and scholars to attend this conference and give important speeches, such as, Prof. Randolph E. Kirchain from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Ph.D. Chang Chein-Chi from University of Maryland, Baltimore; Prof. Shin-ichi Sakai, Chairman of Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management; Vice-president Liu Qiang from China National Resources Recycling Association; Prof. Wang Qi, Director of Institute of Solid Waste Management, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences; Prof. Li Xiujin from Beijin University of Chemical Technology; and other experts from related research institutions.

The quick and efficient channel for papers publishing and indexing

All papers accepted by Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Waste Management and Technology will be published by Elsevier Publishing and submit for EI (Engineering Index) and CPCI (ISTP) index. There will be 10 papers selected by Steering Committee to be published by the special issue of Journal of Material Cycles and Waste Management (JMCWM), which is a journal indexed by SCI, published by Springer.

The professional and efficient display & communication channel for enterprises

ICWMT has been taking the responsibility to promote knowledge exchange between academia and industry to improve solid waste management and technology development. Therefore, ICWMT 7 will invite leading business executives in this area to attend the conference and set up close communication and interaction platform between experts and enterprises through industrial forum and presentations. And we also provide many routes to display the corporate images, such as, enterprise exhibition and presentation.

ICWMT 7 will arrange the field trip of outstanding enterprises in solid waste treatment field.
