The 7^th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology

The International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT), organized by Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China), is held annually since 2004. This annual conference has been held successfully for six times and become an important platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems, exchange experience, and find innovative solutions. Being approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, the Seventh International Conference on Waste Management and Technology will be held in Sep.05-07 in Beijing, China.

The seventh ICWMT will be co-hosted by Tsinghua University, Solid Waste Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, United Nations Environment Programme and Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific, and the main topics of the conference includes the management and technology of municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, e-waste, municipal sludge and other related issues.

The support from the government

To provide communication opportunities for industrial experts and government officials is one of the most missions of ICWMT. ICWMT 7 will be supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China as well as local authorities-Suzhou Environmental Protection Bureau and Suzhou Industry Park Environmental Protection Bureau.

In the seventh ICWMT, high level officials from Ministry of Environmental Protection will be invited to attend the conference, and deliver a keynote speech on the status of waste management and future development.

The lineup of top experts, cutting-edge platform for academic communication

The steering committee of ICWMT converges 48 outstanding experts and scholars from all over the world in solid waste treatment area, Prof. Hao Jiming, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering undertakes the chair of steering committee, and Prof. Jinhui Li from Tsinghua University, executive secretary of BCRC China undertakes the Chair of Conference. ICWMT 7 will invite more than thirty experts and scholars to attend this conference and give important speeches, such as Prof. Randolph E. Kirchain, MIT engineering systems division, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Principal Research Scientist, Materials Systems Laboratory; Prof. Shin-ichi Sakai, Chairman of Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management, Kyoto University, Environment Preservation Center, Director of Research Center for Material Cycles and Waste Management; Prof. Fumikazu Yoshida from School of Public Policy, Hokkaido University; Prof. Tien-Chin Chang , National Taipei University of Technology; Mr. Edward Chen, Deputy Director of Solid Waste Management Department, City of Houston, U.S.A.; Prof. Chang Chein-Chi, Ph.D. from University of Maryland; Prof. Wang Qi, Director of Institute of Solid Waste Management, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences ; Prof. Zhao Youcai, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University; Prof. Xu Zhenming, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; and other experts from research institutions.

The quick and efficient channel for papers publishing and indexing

All papers accepted by Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Waste Management and Technology will be published by Scientific Research Publishing and indexed by ISTP (Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings, SCI and EI are listed as the three major index), and each paper will have a separate ISBN serial number and be indexed by ISTP in 2 months after the publishing of the proceedings.

The professional and efficient display& communication channel for enterprises

ICWMT has been taking the responsibility to promote knowledge exchange between academia and industry to improve solid waste management and technology development. Therefore, ICWMT 7 will invite leading business executives in this area to attend the conference and set up close communication and interaction platform between experts and enterprises through industrial forum and presentations. And we also provide many routes to display the corporate images, such like enterprise exhibition and presentation.

ICWMT 7 will arrange the field trip of outstanding enterprises in solid waste treatment field.
